A retreat in Tuscany

Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort in Italy

TERME di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort is located in the Maremma region of southern Tuscany in Italy. Maremma’s mild climate and nearby hot springs make the resort’s golf course an ideal all-year-round destination. The project is the brainchild of architect Ronald Fream of Golfplan, the studio responsible for some of the most prestigious courses in the world.

The 18-hole, par 72 and 6,316m course is gently undulating and full of hazards and bunkers defending wide and long greens. The course is only 100m from the golf hotel and is set over 70 hectares of terrain.

In the early hours of the morning, deer, porcupines, hares, pheasants and many different species of birds, common in the Maremma, can often be spotted. This is an ecological course eligible for the Italian Golf Federation (F.I.G.) ‘ecological certification’ for courses planned in the respect for the local environment.

The practice range is set on an undulating 33,000sqm piece of land with its four greens providing players with the sensation of playing for real, complemented by a pitching and a putting green.

The founding philosophy of this project is that well-being is born of pleasure, creating a course that will challenge expert golfers as a well as being enjoyable to those who have not played for a while, by omitting tiring gradients and prohibitive shots.
