Take a break from golf and go for a hike at the picturesque Heidiland

NESTLING amid mountain scenery, the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is situated in the Heidiland holiday region of eastern Switzerland, just an hour’s drive by car from Zurich. The resort consists of two five-star establishments, the Grand Hotel Quellenhof & Spa Suites and the Grand Hotel Hof Ragaz, eight restaurants, six bars, the 36.5° Wellbeing & Thermal Spa, two golf courses, the Business & Event Centre Kursaal and an in-house casino.

The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is the only hotel in Switzerland with its own 18-hole PGA Championship course. With its mature trees, natural water hazards and mountainous backdrop, the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz golf course attracts not only local golf lovers, it is also a firm fixture on the international scene among amateur players and professionals alike.

Each summer, the championship course hosts the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open. Another feature of the resort is the neighbouring “Golf Club Heidiland” 9-hole course, perfectly integrated into the flat landscape by renowned golf course designer Peter Harradine. The driving range with golf academy offers spacious practice facilities with more than 50 grass tees as well as 20 covered tees. The Golf Restaurant and sun terrace serving seasonal dishes from mid-March to mid-November has been accorded 13 points by Gault Millau Switzerland.

Players seeking to improve their handicap will find expert support in the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. The two-hour Golf-Check Plus in the Benefit medical training therapy department provides a comprehensive appraisal of current condition including assessment consultation and a training programme to follow at home. In the course of the check-up, the relative strengths of the “golfer muscles” are measured, muscle lengths tested in relation to the golf swing and spinal column flexibility assessed. To complement it, the team at the renowned Swiss Olympic Medical Centre has devised the Golf-Check Top incorporating stress tests, fat measurement and determination of muscle and joint condition in addition to the sports medicine check-up.

The world’s first La Prairie boutique opened its doors in the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, Switzerland in early June this year. The new La Prairie universe allows guests to pamper themselves with the La Prairies Spa treatments, which are available the hotel’s own 36.5° Wellbeing & Thermal Spa, as well as immersing themselves in the entire La Prairie product range.
