The impressive grounds

READERS of influential US travel magazine Travel + Leisure voted stylish Siem Reap boutique property Hôtel de la Paix the best in Cambodia in the ‘2010 World’s Best Awards’ poll.

This is the second time this year Hôtel de la Paix has received an award from the magazine following its place in the T+L 500 annual list of the world’s top hotels in January 2010.

Based on readers’ ratings across a range of criteria, Hôtel de la Paix achieved an overall score of 93.75 ranking it sixth in the World’s Best Awards list of Top Resorts in Asia and number 29 on the list of Top 100 Hotels overall.

Calming influences

Located in Siem Reap, close to the cultural and historic heart of Cambodia, the property is a luxury boutique hotel within easy reach of colourful markets and vibrant nightlife and just a few kilometres from the temple complexes of Angkor Wat, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world and recognised as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Khmer culture is celebrated in every aspect of style and service at Hôtel de la Paix, from the Meric Restaurant, with its seasonally inspired local cuisine, to the Arts Lounge, which pays tribute to Cambodian artists, and Spa Indochine, which offers signature traditional treatments.

Each of the 107 spacious beautifully-appointed, en-suite rooms features chic interiors and contemporary furnishings complemented by intricate wall mountings and handcrafted lamps, creating a balance between modern design and traditional detailing.

Hôtel de la Paix is operated by Ativa Hospitality, an Asian-based management company specialising in the development and management of independent deluxe boutique hotels, which currently manages properties in Thailand and Cambodia with project developments in Vietnam, Laos and India.
