The start of ticket sales for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has generated huge demand around the world, with more than 1.2 million tickets requested within the first 24 hours.
The highest demand came from fans from Qatar, followed by Argentina, Mexico, US, UAE, England, India, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and France.

More than 140,000 tickets have been requested for the final due to take place on December 18, 2022 at Lusail Stadium, and over 80,000 for the opening match.

During this first sales period, which finishes on February 8 at 13:00 Doha time, fans are able to submit their ticket applications at any time. In this initial phase, it makes no difference whether applications are submitted on the first day, the last day or any time in between, as all tickets will be allocated following the closing of the ticket application period. In cases where the number of tickets applied for exceeds the available ticket inventory for the domestic or international market, tickets will be allocated by a random selection draw process.

For the first time in FIFA World Cup history, stadiums are so closely linked that fans can easily attend two matches in one day

All successful, partially successful and unsuccessful applicants will be duly notified of the outcome of their applications by Tuesday, 8 March 2022, along with the steps to follow and the deadline by which to pay for allocated tickets.

ALL IN A DAY’S WORK

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the first time the world’s biggest football tournament is held in the Middle East, and the first FIFA World Cup where the stadiums are so closely linked that fans can easily attend two matches in a single day.

Qatar's futuristic venues for the various FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournaments are sure to create the perfect backdrop to unforgettable matches. The Al Bayt Stadium, which hosts the opening match is located in the city of Al Khor. The arena takes its name from bayt al sha’ar that translates to Bedouin tents – which inspired the design of this 60,000 capacity, futuristic dream, that comes complete with a retractable roof and innovative cooling technologies.

The ground-breaking 40,000-seat Stadium 974 was constructed out of 974 shipping containers, which incidentally is Qatar’s international dialling code. The arena is popular for honouring Qatar's rich maritime history and for its remarkable design where the entire set will be dismantled after the World Cup concludes. Stadium 974 is the first arena in the world that was built to be torn down. Its location will become a stylish waterfront recreation area thereafter leaving a sustainable legacy behind.

Other stadiums include Al Thumama, which from afar resembles traditional Arab headwear; Ahmad Bin Ali; Education City; Al Janoub and Al Rayyan stadium. The final match is planned to take place at the ultra-modern, Lusail Stadium with 80,000 seating capacity, on December 18, 2022.
