Fairmont appoints president
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Jennifer Fox as president. Fox joins Fairmont from InterContinental Hotels Group where she was chief operating officer for Continental Europe. Prior to this, she held various positions for Sheraton and InterContinental as well as general manager for hotels in Hong Kong, Europe, Australia and the US.

Four Seasons welcomes Pirkle
Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh has announced the arrival Greg Pirkle as general manager. Pirkle was previously general manager of the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, Malaysia. He has spent over 20 years in various roles in seven different Four Seasons properties including the Pierre in New York City, Jakarta, Maui, Exuma, Hualalai and Langkawi.

Dusit’s VP operations
Dusit International has promoted Jiri Kobos to vice-president operations based in Bangkok. Kobos was most recently the managing director and general manager of Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo. He brings over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry, most recently with the Hyatt Corporation worldwide.

Schmitz at Millennium Abu Dhabi
Ruprecht Schmitz has been appointed as the new general manager of Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi, taking over from Moine Kandil who moves to new role as director of operations, MEA for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels & Resorts. Schmitz moves from Singapore where he was general manager of the Orchard Hotel.

Lambert heads Corinthia Hotels
Corinthia Hotels has appointed Liam Lambert as its chief operating officer. Lambert joins Corinthia following a 30-year illustrious international career across four continents. His last appointment was as president of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts. Prior to that, he was the director of operations in EMEA for Mandarin Oriental Hotels.

Panagis at the Diplomat
The Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Panos Panagis as general manager of The Diplomat Radisson Blu Residence and Spa, Bahrain. Panagis has worked in various cities world including Switzerland, the UK, Germany and Africa. This is his first position in the Middle East. He was previously general manager for Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos.

Four Seasons appoints El Zahed
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has appointed Ashraf El Zahed as director of hotel marketing, Middle East. Prior to his four years as senior director of marketing GCC, he was director of marketing at the Doha property, followed by director of sales and marketing at Four Seasons in Amman and lastly director of sales at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at First Residence.

Egle at Shangri-La Villingili
Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa, Maldives has appointed Rene D. Egle as general manager of the resort. Egle joined the company in 2003 as resident manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. Prior to his new role, he was general manager at Traders Hotel, Dubai. He also spent three years at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai- as resident manager, then hotel manager.

Hauri joins Beach Rotana
The Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi has announced Jörg Hauri as its new general manager. Hauri’s career started in Switzerland, then moved on to Asia and lastly to the region. Hauri joined Mövenpick in 2002 working with them in Egypt, Tunisia and Lebanon and then moved to Greece where he became the group general manager for Maris Hotels in Crete.

Farhat named hotel manager
Crowne Plaza Dubai has promoted Georges Farhat from resident manager to hotel manager. Since joining as a management trainee in 1994, Farhat has risen up the ranks, demonstrating an appetite for knowledge and a talent for hospitality. He maintains strong relations with government officials, community organizations and IHG corporate offices.

Maier takes over
Wolfgang Maier has been appointed as general manager of the Hilton Abu Dhabi. His experience has seen him work in Europe, Australia, Philippines, China and the Middle East. Prior to his new role, he was cluster general manager at the Jeddah Hilton and Qasr Al Sharq in Saudi Arabia.

New faces at Crowne Plaza
Crowne Plaza Dubai has announced Bill Sheppard (right) as general manager and Bruno Fischer as executive assistant manager for the hotel. Sheppard is also the director of operations, Dubai. Prior to his new role, Fischer has worked at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Bahrain, the InterContinental Hotel Abu Dhabi and the Al Bustan Palace in Oman.

Mafraq’s new additions
Mafraq Hotel has announced Antonio Alfonso (right) as chief concierge and Sam Bouhnassa as Hunter’s manager. Alfonso joins the Mafraq team after nine years working for The Taj Village and Bambolim Beach Resort in Goa, and the Metropolitan Palace in Dubai. Bouhnassa was previously head bar supervisor at South Molle Island Resort in Australia.

Wolfgang Pachler is the new chief operating officer at Resorts Development Company, the Master Developer behind Al Gassar Resort. Pachler has worked with the operational departments of various hotel groups across Europe, Middle East, Far East and US including the Mandarin Oriental Group, Marriott Hotels and Resorts and Grand Metropolitan Hotels.

Tandon at Mövenpick Al Khobar
Sanjeev Tandon has taken over as director of sales and marketing for the Mövenpick Hotel and the Mövenpick Beach Resort Al Khobar. Prior to this he was director of sales and marketing at the Mövenpick Tower & Suites Doha. He has also worked for Le Gulf Meridien Al Khobar, the Jumeirah Group in Dubai and the Sheraton Oman in Muscat.
