As many as 50 exhibitors are to take part in the 2010 edition of Oman Travel Mart (OTM), which will be held from May 17 to 19 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Muscat, Oman, according to the organiser.

Having grown to be the leading international travel fair in Oman, OTM is an ideal B2B and B2C platform for the travel and tourism sector, attracting travel officials from across the globe and prospective travellers and tourists from within the country, according to Oman International Trade & Exhibitions (OITE), the event’s organiser.

Now in its seventh edition, OTM promotes inbound and outbound tourism, providing unrivalled opportunity for organisations in Oman and abroad to showcase their products and services whilst presenting a diverse range of destinations, says Ammar Ahmad, OITE project sales executive - trade fairs.

The event will host tourism sectors comprising adventure and sports, business and incentive, education and leisure, health and medical, green and ecological, transport services and operators, travel insurance and banking services, hotels and resorts, cruise liners, ferries and boat services, airlines, airport and cargo services, amongst others.

OITE will also hold a one-day conference titled ‘Tourism Development and Management’ which will be held alongside the Oman Travel Mart.

The conference will serve as a platform for industry professionals to discuss various challenges, identify required developments and examine various responses regarding appropriate tourism business planning and management techniques.

To be held on May 18, the conference will provide participants with stimulating discussions and practical ideas from regional and international tourism professionals and experts, says Ahmad.

The conference will be attended by senior level executives and decision-makers from the travel and tourism sectors including officials from government agencies, travel and tourism associations, entrepreneurs, investors, tourism experts,  and consultants.

The event will discuss Oman’s tourism vision for 2010 and beyond, the growing importance of tourism in the national economy, regional and global trends in the travel and tourism industry, strategies and opportunities to improve product development and diversification, sports tourism, medical tourism, the Mice industry, business, eco-tourism and sustainable practices.

OTM is supported by Oman Air as the main sponsor and Munich Tourism Promotion Board and the Eqyptian Tourist Authority as lead and platinum sponsor, respectively.
