Looking to the future of tourism, hospitality

Now in its 29th year and working in collaboration with the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2022) will take place from May 9 to 12, with 1,400 exhibitors and over 30,000 attendees

This year, under the show theme of The future of international travel and tourism, Arabian Travel Market will take a deep dive into the trends, opportunities and catalysts for shaping the industry as we move into a new era of technology and innovation and look at what this means for the long term trajectory of the sector.

While I can’t claim to predict the future, I know that travel tech will have a crucial role in the industry's success as we move forward. Thanks to a world-class lineup of speakers, ATM 2022 will provide a platform for those attending the event to better understand and prepare for changes in consumer behaviour aligned with new technology.

The revamped and rebranded ATM Travel Tech event (previously known as Travel Forward) is a must-attend fixture to understand the tech correlation and will feature seminars, debates and presentations. Industry professionals from around the world will be on hand to provide expert insights and perspectives on where our sector is heading and how we can take advantage.

As a globally recognised tech hub, Dubai offers an unparalleled environment for entrepreneurs and start-ups working to drive advancements within travel, tourism and hospitality. Cutting-edge solutions are helping businesses within our sector streamline their activities while simultaneously improving the customer experience.

By capitalising on the Middle East’s status as an innovation hub and taking advantage of the region’s ongoing start-up phenomenon, we believe ATM 2022 will act as a much-needed incubator for future tech and innovation.

As such, ATM 2022 has joined forces with AladdinB2B and Draper Associates to launch the inaugural ATM Draper-Aladdin Start-up Competition. As part of this exciting initiative, 15 start-ups from across the travel, tourism and hospitality sector will be given the opportunity to pitch for up to $500,000 of funding.

Each pitch will last for five minutes and will be followed by a five-minute Q&A session with ATM’s panel of industry judges. The top-scoring pitch will secure a minimum investment of $30,000, up to a maximum of $500,000, as well as a Draper-Aladdin Start-up Competition (DASC) certificate.

In addition to the heavy focus on technology, ATM 2022 will include sessions dedicated to India and Saudi Arabia, enabling attendees to explore trends and potential opportunities within both key markets. Our show floor also features live interviews with aviation and hospitality experts, debates on the future of sports, city and responsible tourism; digital influencer networking; and best stand awards.

Added bonuses include the return of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNTWO) session, as well as ILTM Arabia with its focus on the lucrative luxury travel market.

Held in collaboration with Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the emirate’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), ATM forms an essential part of the UAE’s Annual Arabian Travel Week. This year’s show features 1,400 exhibitors and representatives from 112 destinations, with over 30,000 people expected to attend.

Despite the challenges we’ve faced as an industry, I’m confident this year’s edition of Arabian Travel will provide the necessary tools to navigate the future of international travel and tourism.
