Sharjah Museums Authority will organise an event to celebrate the International Tourist Guide Day on Thursday (Feb 24) at the Sharjah Archeology Museum.
The event, from 10 am to 12 noon, includes a number of scientific papers that identify several aspects, most notably clarifying the role of institutions in supporting and rehabilitating tourist guides, in addition to highlighting the role of tour guides in promoting national belongings.
The event programme, which is run by guide Shamsa Al-Karbi from the Sharjah Archeology Museum, will host Dr Imad Abu Al-Enein, Professor of Tourist Guidance at the University of Sharjah; Jassim Al Bastaki, Vice-President of the Emirates Association for Tourist Guides; Hessa Al-Mutawa, Senior Executive at the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; Sarah Issa, the guide at the Sharjah Art Museum; and Maryam Al-Askar, the guide at the Sharjah Science Museum.
The event aims to enhance awareness of the tour guides’ role in introducing the country’s tourism importance and status, as well as highlighting the efforts of institutions such as the Sharjah Museums Authority, the University of Sharjah, the Emirates Tourist Guides Association and individual tour guides in protecting and preserving the country’s identity and introducing its diverse and unique tourism potentials, said a statement. -TradeArabia News Service
