THE  sultanate’s first Marriott, Salalah Marriott Resort in Mirbat, Oman is preparing itself for the upcoming monsoon which is expect to run from the beginning of July until mid August.

The resort, which celebrated its first anniversary in March 2011, will help make the region specially attractive by offering the coolest summer rates to its international guests and local residents in the upcoming Khareef holiday season.

Salalah generally enjoys a tropical climate but experiences south-west monsoons, called ‘Khareef’, which translates to autumn in Arabic, from late June to mid August.

The khareef is characterised with a cool summer breeze and a refreshing drizzle that covers the Dhofar Mountains with lush greenery turning dry wadis into flowing rivers.   

According to Ahmed El-Meligui, director of sales and marketing at the Salalah Marriott Resort, the resort offers the ultimate summer escape with the best room rates available in Dhofar region.

Guests also access the surroundings of Mirbat, including astonishing waterfalls and lush green wadis within a 20 minutes drive of the property.

“Special room rates will be available during the school holidays and many great activities are being planned,” said El-Meligui.

“Additionally the Khareef Festival awaits guests with exciting concerts and theatre plays. We will offer a convenient and complimentary shuttle to the venue. The cool and rainy weather in Salalah during the summer months lets the whole family enjoy all these activities to the maximum at a reasonable price .' 

The hotel offers deluxe, superior rooms and 16 suites as well as privacy with its 51 chalets, located directly on the white sandy beach and featuring studios and one- and two-bedroom configurations.
