Italy airports register record 197m passengers

Italy's airports achieved a historic milestone by welcoming a record-breaking 197.2 million passengers in 2023, ANSA news agency quoted the Assaeroporti association as saying.
 
The airport association revealed that this figure marked a 2.1% increase from the previous record established before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019. Notably, 128 million of these passengers were attributed to international flights.
 
Rome's Fiumicino airport claimed the top spot with 40.5 million passengers, followed by Milan Malpensa with 26.1 million, Bergamo with 16 million, Naples with 12.4 million, Venice with 11.3 million, Catania with 10.7 million, Bologna with 10 million, Milan Linate with 9.4 million, Palermo with 8.1 million, and Bari with 6.5 million.
