Accor, a world leading hospitality group, has announced the signing of the cooperation agreement with Fujin Silk Properties, company based in Georgia, to open a new ibis hotel at Tbilisi International Airport in 2024.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of the new hotel under the world-famous ibis brand in one of the most important hubs of Georgia – Tbilisi International Airport, which welcomes more than 3 million people annually. We are confident that the new opening will be a real find for tourists and guests of the city, as well as for business travelers and transit passengers. The hotel’s cosy rooms and convenient mobile check-in, along with affordable prices, will brighten up their wait during a stopover or before a long journey," Alexis Delaroff, COO of Accor New East Europe, says.
The new ibis will be located in a brand-new development, 15 kilometres away from the capital, and just a few minutes’ walk from Tbilisi International Airport (TBS). The railway and bus stations are within walking distance. The hotel's convenient location will allow guests to reach the centre of Tbilisi, famous for its distinctive architecture, embodying an eclectic mix of medieval, neoclassical, art nouveau and modernist buildings.
Famed for its distinct culinary traditions, Georgia is a wonderful gastronomic and travel destination and one of the oldest wine regions in the world with evidence of wine-making dating back 8000 years ago. In 2022 National Geographic Travel has included Tbilisi in the Top 100 Best Cities to Visit in its new guidebook.
The involvement of an award-winning French architect, along with leading local team of architects from Art Studio, is sure to be a significant signature to the project. "This project is a first step towards the urban mutation of the area, as it marks the future development of Tbilisi Airport city area," stated Clément Blanchet, a French architect.
The hotel will offer 72 comfortable rooms designed in accordance with the global modern design concept of ibis brand – Plaza. In the open-air lobby, a central bar dominates the space, inviting guests to gather around and mingle about the social hub. Guestrooms in the Plaza concept continue the theme of a casual, warm, living style, with edgy wood and metal features. In each room, guests will find everything needed for a comfortable stay, including a workplace and an innovative Sweet Bed for a happy night's sleep. The hotel will offer early and late breakfasts at ibis Kitchen restaurant and free access to wi-fi.
In addition to the new ibis, the building will also feature a modern business centre, meeting rooms, and a wine shop, showcasing selected collections from well-renowned producers, as a tribute to Georgian wine traditions and heritage.
The opening of the new ibis in Tbilisi Airport is scheduled for 2024.
“We have a long-term vision to create a brand-new travel and entertainment hub at Tbilisi International Airport,” said the CEO of Fujin Silk Properties.
“The 1st ibis airport hotel is the very 1st step towards a lot bigger & bolder plans. Following project phases at Tbilisi International Airport include over 30.000sqm developments to bring the old glory to the Silk Road route.
