India, one of Lebanon’s finest restaurants offering authentic Punjabi cuisine, first opened in downtown Beirut in 2005.

In 2006, it moved to the Palm Beach Hotel in Ain El Mreisseh but, feeling the need to go back to its roots, India relocated again last November, this time to the ground floor of the Markazia Monroe Suites Hotel.

Created by Raji Varma, who is half Indian and half Lebanese, and whose father owned Sirena Restaurant in Ras Beirut in 1958, India specialises in authentic Punjabi, North Indian, cuisine.

With a delicate marriage of spices the dishes offered include the traditional mouthwatering favourites from the mild and creamy chicken khorma to not-for-the-faint-hearted lamb vindaloo as well as a wide range of vegetarian dishes.

A must try is India’s special starter Hara Bara Kababs, which look like little kafta balls but are made with peas and Spinach.
