Turkish Airlines, the fastest growing airline flying to the highest number of destinations, connects 329 destinations from its Istanbul hub. Out of these, 279 are international and 50 domestic, making it the airline that flies to more countries than any other.

However, the airline’s current focus is on sustainability, Ahmet Olmustur, Chief Marketing Officer of the airlines, says in a Q&A. “As an airline we focus our energy on enhancing the travel experience by providing a safe environment on ground and in the air. While focus on travel health has certainly increased, environmentalist concerns will be a big part of sector’s future.”

SUSTAINABLE FUEL
Sustainable aviation fuel reduces emissions by 87 per cent and comes with high energy that helps reduce harmful particles of SOx and NOx emissions due to clean burn. It is produced from sustainable raw materials and devoid of harmful heavy metals.

“We are promoting our sustainable aviation fuel due to the effect the aviation sector has on climate change and we hope to help reduce the carbon footprint of our customers,” says Olmustur.

“We offer an award-winning lounge, have an art exhibition at the Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge to liven the spirit of the passengers, a young fleet with great passenger comfort, ease of booking, in-flight services so that travellers get motivated to fly with us and use our hub as a stop over to get to other countries.”

HEALTH & SAFETY
Turkish Airlines has achieved the Diamond status by APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) Health Safety powered by SimpliFlying for numerous criteria such as touch-free check-in process, implementation of social distancing, temperature measuring at entrances, Covid-19 test service at the airport, hygiene precautions, in-flight social distancing, hygiene expert cabin crews appointed in flights and hygiene kits offered to passengers.

Flights within the Turkish Airline’s European network from Istanbul still remain strong this year. “Our hub gives travellers a seamless connection via an upgraded airport that takes all precautions for safe travel and a diverse shopping and dining experience. We do well as we are not too far from the GCC countries, so people plan for short trips, often over the weekend so the opportunity for local economies to thrive remains. We offer more flight options, greater connectivity and optimizing on Istanbul’s many attractions beautiful palaces, mosques, museums and retail havens.

“We are the busiest airline in the Eurocontrol Network and Istanbul Airport is the top airport with 604 daily departures, while another airport in Istanbul, Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, ranked sixth with 345 daily flights.”
