Portier Hotels launches The Arc House brand with Bali debut, expansion plans

Portier Hotels has launched The Arc House, a new collection of design-led boutique lifestyle hotels, with its first property, The Arc House Canggu, now open in Bali. The brand will expand to Hong Kong later this year, followed by Melbourne in early 2027.

The collection targets travellers seeking locally connected hospitality, combining contemporary design, neighbourhood experiences and personalised services. Each property will reflect its destination through architecture, dining and guest experiences, while maintaining a consistent design identity and service approach.

Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Hong Kong, Portier Hotels focuses on developing hospitality brands that emphasise design, guest experience and a strong connection to local communities.

Edward McKenna, Co-Founder of Portier Hotels, said: "Portier Hotels was founded with a simple ambition of creating hospitality brands with a clear point of view and the discipline to deliver on it every day. Asia-Pacific is a region of very different travel cultures, and increasingly guests expect hotels to reflect that richness. They look for design, service and food that bring them closer to a place, rather than offering the same experience in every destination. That's the differentiation that Portier Hotels offers through our brands."

Bali property marks first launch

The Arc House Canggu, located near Batu Bolong Beach, is the first property under the new brand. The hotel is positioned within one of Bali's growing lifestyle destinations, close to restaurants, independent retail outlets, wellness facilities and entertainment venues.

The property features 19 private-pool suite villas, each offering individual swimming pools and private spaces for relaxation. Additional facilities include a restaurant, rooftop infinity pool, wellness programming and in-villa breakfast services.

Its design combines minimalist interiors, contemporary materials and locally sourced artwork, with architectural arches serving as a signature feature across the collection.

Karen Choi, Co-Founder and Head of Architecture at Portier Hotels, said: "We want every The Arc House to feel like part of one collection, without ever feeling repeated. A shared design language pairs minimalist interiors with arches as an architectural signature, but each address is informed by the building, the neighbourhood and the creative life around it. In Canggu, that means a contemporary, minimalist setting with locally sourced artwork that makes the experience feel specific to this place."

The hotel's dining concept, MYKAZA, combines Japanese cooking techniques with Balinese flavours, serving both hotel guests and the surrounding community. The rooftop pool offers panoramic sunset views, complementing the property's leisure and dining facilities.

Expansion into Hong Kong and Melbourne

Portier Hotels plans to open The Arc House Hong Kong at 148 Wellington Street in Central later this year. The 24-room boutique property will provide access to the district's cultural attractions, heritage sites, restaurants and commercial areas.

Facilities will include a lounge, rooftop terrace, gym and restaurant, One Forty Eight Wellington, which will focus on Cantonese cuisine and drinks.

The brand's third property, a 43-room hotel in Melbourne, is scheduled to open in early 2027. Further details regarding its location, design and facilities are expected to be announced closer to the opening.

Nikola Sasic, President, APAC, Portier Hotels, said: "The way guests use The Arc House is what brings the brand to life. Programming gives them a simple way into the food cultures, people and places that shape a neighbourhood, from a shared experience at the hotel to a recommendation worth following. Canggu is the beginning of a carefully considered rollout for The Arc House. Hong Kong and Melbourne will answer to very different city rhythms, which is exactly why they are right for the collection." -TTN
