The month begins with the Malta Classic, running October 1–4, when vintage cars take to the historic streets around Mdina for hill climbs, displays and the headline Mdina Grand Prix.

On October 3, Notte Bianca transforms Valletta into a city-wide celebration of art and culture, with music, dance and performances filling streets and public spaces after dark.

Music lovers can enjoy Jazz… Unplugged at Pjazza Teatru Rjal on October 12, offering an intimate evening of jazz in the former Royal Opera House.

Sailing takes centre stage on October 17 with the Rolex Middle Sea Race, as an international fleet departs Malta’s Grand Harbour for the 606-nautical-mile race towards Sicily.

For a more atmospheric experience, BirguFest brings thousands of candles and traditional lamps to the historic streets of Birgu, creating a distinctive evening setting. The 2026 dates are yet to be confirmed.

Opera enthusiasts can cross to Gozo on October 17 for Verdi’s La Traviata at Teatru tal-Opra Aurora in Victoria, part of celebrations marking the venue’s 50th anniversary.

Rounding out the month, the Three Palaces Festival, from October 28  to November 1, brings music to Malta’s historic palaces, combining performances with the islands’ architectural heritage.

Together, the events offer visitors a different way to experience Malta, blending history, culture, music, motorsport and the Mediterranean setting. -TTN
