This innovative destination promotes eco-tourism, focusing on reconnecting with the earth and understanding the vital relationship between humans and the environment.

At Heenat Salma Farm, guests can explore lush gardens, participate in hands-on farming activities, and learn about organic practices that prioritise sustainability.

The farm serves as a living classroom, emphasising the importance of biodiversity, conservation, and the cultivation of organic produce. By stepping away from the concrete landscape of the city, visitors can experience a tranquil environment that nurtures their connection to Mother Nature.

As World Tourism Day 2024 unfolds, Qatar shines as a symbol of hospitality and cultural richness. This year's theme, "Tourism and Peace," highlights travel's role in fostering international understanding and reconciliation. Central to this celebration was a captivating media gathering hosted by Qatar Tourism at the enchanting Heenat Salma Farm.

Located in Al Shahaniya, northwest of Doha, Heenat Salma Farm serves as a pioneering model for sustainable living and regenerative agriculture in Qatar.

The farm spans 50 hectares and is a multifaceted project under the Caravane Earth Foundation. It combines eco-hospitality with educational initiatives, traditional architecture, and community development, creating a serene retreat that embodies the principles of permaculture.

During the event, guests were immersed in engaging cultural workshops. Dr  Buthaina Al Janahi, Head of Communications at Qatar Tourism, welcomed attendees, setting a tone of discovery and connection. Participants engaged in activities such as planting, weaving, and crafting natural scents, all while appreciating the rich tapestry of Qatari heritage.

A standout feature of the gathering was an art workshop titled "Sport in Global Paintings," presented by the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. This unique experience blended art with sports, emphasising the cultural significance of athleticism worldwide. Such initiatives not only celebrate Qatar's history but also foster community and shared values among attendees.

Heenat Salma Farm is dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture and ethical living. The farm’s farm-to-table concept is exemplified by a lunch prepared by an in-house chef, featuring simple, healthy meals made from seasonal, home-grown produce.

Since 2018, Heenat Salma has transformed a conventional farm into a permaculture Centre of Excellence, diversifying local food production with vegetables, fruits, and medicinal plants suited to arid landscapes. The farm grows over 1,500 date palms, preserving the cultural heritage of Qatar while promoting biodiversity. These palms, alongside a diverse range of crops, contribute to the conservation of local ecosystems and provide essential nutrition for the community.

Surrounding the farm are approximately 5 kilometres of trees that create a shaded microclimate, benefiting both crops and visitors.
