Korea Tourism opens Riyadh office

In a strategic move aimed at expanding its presence in the Middle East and fostering stronger ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has opened its inaugural representative office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This milestone marks a significant step in South Korea’s efforts to tap into the Saudi market following a favourable annual tourism performance with international tourists, and a recent considerable growth rate in tourism from Saudi Arabia and the GCC countries.

Appointed as the marketing and PR representative for Korea Tourism Organization in Saudi Arabia, Aviareps, a prominent global leader in tourism, aviation, hospitality representation, and communications, will spearhead efforts to raise awareness about South Korea as an ideal travel destination for Saudi travellers.

 

Discover Qatar introduces air tours

Qatar Airways’ destination management company, Discover Qatar, has launched its exclusive air tour ‘Discover Doha by Air’. The tour offers discerning travellers the opportunity to explore breath-taking landscapes and iconic landmarks on board a Cessna 208 Caravan, a single-engine light turboprop utility aircraft.

With a flight duration of 45 minutes, the aircraft will take off from Doha International Airport Premium Terminal, first flying over Al Thumama Stadium, Aspire Zone and Education City and then move towards Lusail Stadium, Al Bayt Stadium and Thakira Mangrove Forest. The journey will continue with flybys over The Pearl Island, Al Safliya Island, Katara Cultural Village and West Bay. Before reaching the airport, the aircraft will be flying over the Corniche, National Museum of Qatar, Museum of Islamic Art and Stadium 974 for a grand finish.

 

Visit Britain activity boosts economy

Visitors spent an additional £1.26 billion across Britain as a result of activity by national tourism agency VisitBritain/VisitEngland, latest figures (from April 2021 to July 2023) show.

It means that for every pound invested in the agency, visitors spent an additional £15 in Britain.

VisitBritain’s latest inbound tourism forecast estimates £32.5 billion will be spent by international visitors in the UK this year, up 5 per cent on 2023, and up 14 per cent on 2019. Looking at visits to the UK, 38.7 million visits are forecast, up 2 per cent on the 38 million seen in 2023 however still 5 per cent shy of 2019 levels.

 

Qatar announces expedited licensing

The Tourism Licensing Department at Qatar Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced a joint initiative that facilitates qualitative licensing procedures for tourism establishments and businesses.

This includes seasonal discounts, festival-specific discounts, loyalty customer discounts, promotional offers and special deals for granting hotel and tourism establishments. Visit Qatar, the main arm of Qatar Tourism, announced that it will handle the application process for the ‘single- license’ on behalf of entities and individuals participating in festivals, and events.
