Key Swiss properties to keep on your radar

With many openings and refurbishments over the pandemic and in the near future, we have tracked down a list of key hotels and meetings venues across Switzerland that need to be in your radar.


The 56-key Grace Hotel St. Moritz – Auberge Resorts Collection will open this year in Engadin St. Moritz. The luxury lifestyle hotel will comprise two restaurants, an all-day cafe, a vibrant bar, cigar lounge, dynamic event space and a state-of-the-art spa. Six Senses Resort Crans Montana will open in Valais with 47 suites and 17 residence apartments and a strong focus on high sustainability standards.


In the Lake Geneva Region, the five-star Hôtel des Horlogers will undergo a complete refurbishment of its 50 keys. The 148-key Mandarin Oriental Palace Lucerne will also undergo a complete refurbishment with a budget of CHF100 million.


Further down the line, Hotel Alila la Gruyere by Hyatt will open in the Fribourg Region with 85 rooms, 27 hotel residences and its own golf course. The luxurious boutique hotel Rhodania is expected to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt in 2023. Hotel Rhodania, Crans-Montana will also open next year with 41 keys and its own golf course. Mandarin Oriental Hotel Savoy Zurich will have a refurbishment of conference and event facilities, including the grand historic ballroom.


Last year, Basel saw the openings of the 68-key Hotel Märthof in the summer and 264-key Mövenpick Hotel Basel, with a meeting room capacity of 440 pax in the fall.


The Canton of Bern saw the spring opening of a three-star property combined with a lively hospitality research laboratory. The Lab Hotel Thun is where future hoteliers and real guests meet. The property boasts 45 modern hotel rooms, 3 serviced flats and 6 capsule rooms.


Last year, the 120-keys Grand Hôtel & Centre Thermal Yverdon-les-Bains in the Lake Geneva Region saw a careful step by step renovation of the interior and exterior of the spa and hotel. The rooms and bathrooms, kitchens and the outdoor facilities including the swimming pool were renovated with an invest of CHF32 million.


On June 25 last year, the former Hotel Titlis Palace, Engelberg opened as the new 129-key Kempinski Palace Engelberg after an investment of CHF100 million. It is now the only five-star hotel in Engelberg and features a spacious, integrated spa and wellness area on the top floor. Restaurants, seminar rooms, a bar, shops and a banquet hall are also included.


Alpine Garden - Capsule Hotel Zurich Airport opened last year with 140 sleeping capsules located next to check-in 1 at Zurich Airport.
