Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is launching a series of culturally immersive events during Ramadan, allowing international travellers to experience Egypt's rich heritage through community gatherings, lively night markets, and traditional culinary delights.
“Ramadan in Egypt is a time of unity and tradition, when our communities come together to share in the spirit of generosity and hospitality,” said H.E. Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in Egypt. “We invite visitors from around the world to experience authentic Iftar meals, explore bustling markets, and enjoy the enchanting atmosphere of our historic streets.”
During this sacred month, Egypt will come alive with:
A Special Atmosphere of Spirituality and Community: Streets across the country will reflect a deep sense of unity as families and friends gather to break their fast, creating an ambience that is both warm and welcoming.
Vibrant Street Festivals and Nightly Markets: From Cairo to Luxor, travellers can explore markets brimming with traditional crafts, exquisite lanterns (fanous), and a delectable assortment of sweets such as kunafa and qatayef.
Authentic Culinary Experiences: Both Iftar (the meal to break the fast at sunset) and Suhoor (the pre-dawn meal) will feature sumptuous spreads of traditional dishes including ful medames, molokhia, and mahshi.
Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism underscores that Ramadan is not only a time for religious observance but also an unparalleled opportunity to experience the country’s cultural richness.
