Madrid continues to open luxury accommodation

In 2025, Madrid will see the opening of several luxury accommodations, including Meliá Casa de las Artes, with a restaurant-theatre; the Brach Madrid hotel, designed by Philippe Starck; Vivood Landscape Hotels, integrated into Madrid's nature; the luxurious Taiko Hotel Madrid on Calle Alcalá; and the transformed iconic Metropolis building into a luxury hotel of the Umbrella Group.

At the last count in 2024, Madrid had 214 four- and five-star hotels totalling 32,739 rooms, representing 66 per cent of the establishments and 82 per cent of the available rooms in the city. Marriott International leads, followed by Meliá Hotels International, NH Hotel Group, followed by others.

“Since 2019, the offer has grown by 7 per cent, with 47 new international brand hotels standing out,” Jacobo Mato, official representative of the Chamber of Commerce & Tourism of Madrid to the Middle East, tells TTN in an interview.

“Centrally positioned in the heart of the Spanish capital’s Cortes District, Nobu Hotel Madrid will see the transformation of an existing office building, located at 26 Calle Alcalá, between Plaza de Cibeles and Puerta del Sol.

“The hotel will offer a tri-level Nobu restaurant and bar, an expansive rooftop bar, and a lounge with views over the skyline together with a state-of-the-art fitness centre and spa. The restaurant will be reimagined by the renowned Californian architectural/design group, Studio PCH, led by Severine Tatangelo. Studio PCH has designed multiple Nobu properties including the highly acclaimed Nobu Malibu and the Nobu Hotel San Sebastián,” he tells us.

“Brach Madrid: Sophisticated, chic, and inviting–that’s the essence of the new Brach hotel arriving in Madrid from Paris. This latest addition from the Parisian hospitality group Evok, already established in Paris and soon in Rome (opening in 2026), is set to make waves.

“Its location? One of Madrid’s most iconic streets, Gran Vía, in a historic building–Gran Vía 20–once home to the city’s first American bar, opened in 1929. From what we’ve seen, this is shaping up to be one of the year’s most talked-about openings. A five-star hotel designed by Philippe Starck (known for the Teatro Eslava renovation and Ramsés restaurant), it also features a spa with an innovative wellness concept focused on anti-aging treatments.

“And the best part? It’s already open, welcoming guests since December 2024.”

Mato is also the founder of ME Experience, specialised in curating exclusive, personalised travel experiences in the UAE, KSA and Oman. From Real Madrid football stars to families seeking authenticity, ME Experience crafts unforgettable journeys tailored to every traveller’s unique vision.

“Check out Real Madrid’s Summer Experience, one of the most prestigious and internationally recognised football camps, offering an unforgettable experience,” he says.

Shoppers will love Plaza España and Barrio de Salesas, the epicentre of design shopping. Since the Riu hotel reopened the Edificio España and the green renovation of the iconic Plaza de España was completed, many brands have chosen this location, making it the new shopping epicentre of Madrid. Next to Plaza España, the Salesas neighbourhood has been filled with design and fashion shops.

“For a top-tier wellness experience, the Four Seasons Madrid Spa stands out as one of the most luxurious and exclusive options.”

For art lovers from next year, Madrid will permanently host one of the most outstanding art collections in Latin America in the Serrería Belga space, Mato tells us. These are more than 4,000 pieces of painting, sculpture, drawing, decorative arts and manuscripts donated by Antonio Pérez Simón, a businessman and collector of Asturian origin who emigrated to Mexico.

The presentation of this treasure that significantly expands Madrid's museum offer includes many never-before-seen works by great artists such as Rubens, Goya, Van Gogh, Sorolla, Monet, Renoir or Alex Katz.
