There is a new but familiar spot in Abu Dhabi that ticks all the boxes for a fantastic getaway. Radisson Blu Hotel & Resort, Abu Dhabi Corniche easily packs a bundle of experiences to keep every member of the family cheerful.
With its convenient location in the heart of Abu Dhabi city and panoramic views of the corniche and marina, every attraction is just a short drive away. The hop across the road to West Bay Abu Dhabi, the beachfront club and beach facility open to all the guests is one of the major highlights of the stay at this city hotel. West Bay has taken the pandemic downtime to completely refurbish its already popular beach attractions and adds a resort-like atmosphere to the property in a prime city location.
Children will love the newly opened wave pool and lazy river, add that to the children's pool with slides and play areas, throw in doughnut rings for those who want to laze across the water, and you have a perfect aqua adventure. There’s more, a zip line, right across the wave pool, as well as an outdoor climbing park – teasing the adventure seeker to go for it. There’s also quiet, adult-only pool areas for those with older kids or couples and single travellers.
While the young ones are busy in the adventure zone, parents may relax at the luxurious cabanas that overlook the resort and sip their favourite beverages at the newly opened Vertigo Lounge. The contrast of relaxing and energetic vibes in the air makes for a brilliant and unique holiday spot.
Come for a bite, stay for a meal – this will sum up our overall experience at Radisson Blu Hotel & Resort, Abu Dhabi Corniche.
Two other outlets in West Bay offer contrasting F&B experiences, a quiet coffee shop in Blu Ocean Cafe and a place for sun-bathing or reading a book at the poolside Escape Beach Bar. But the headline act has to be the West Bay Lounge. Well known for its brunch, this is an experience for the foodies at heart. Quick footed staff are at your side to meet every need, whether your plate needs changing, your drinks need refilling, or you need extra cushions to settle into the food for hours – all the time while platter after platter of delicious bites are served.
One may start with nachos tortilla chips with guacamole, salsa, then quickly move on to cold starters. We went for a delicious plate of freshly shucked oysters alongside romesco pasta with a side of creamy burrata, and before we were done relishing the tasty bits, there was spicy buffalo chicken wings, hot mushroom aranchini with truffle mayo, duck confit croquette, Mexican chicken tacos and a family pizza to enjoy. A platter of sushi, sashimi and nigiri brought the opening act to a conclusion. Freshly squeezed fruit drinks, and a variety of curated drinks, spirits, bubbles were being generously poured to keep the gourmand in us appeased. While the main course contained a lineup of Italian favourites, we moved on to charcoal grills, to savour jumbo shrimps and beef medallions – they make for a lasting memory. A selection of exotics fruits, churros with hot chocolate sauce and cheesecake helped bring curtain down on what was a triumphant dining experience.
The At night live entertainment from DJs puts this venue on every must-go lists.
Shout out to the talents at the Jazz Bar for giving guests a reason to smile and sing along, the cosy venue is soon going to be a hub for good music, food and catching up with friends. Once the Jazz Bar comes back with the whole band after Covid-19 restrictions are dropped, it will be the evening venue of choice for any music lover.
