Sofitel Dubai The Palm has achieved Green Globe Platinum Certification, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and support for the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goals.

Part of the Accor Group, the property earned a 93% rating in an independent audit by Farnek, meeting or exceeding more than 380 sustainability indicators.

Energy efficiency initiatives include rooftop solar panels supplying 50% of hot water, LED lighting, smart controls, and building system optimisations, saving 3.94 million kWh and reducing carbon emissions by 1,779 metric tonnes.

Water-saving measures, including recycling air conditioning condensation to irrigate 27,000 m² of gardens and installing aerators, cut consumption by 7.38 million gallons, reducing 35 tonnes of CO. Recycling efforts mitigated 10.67 tonnes of CO and prevented 2,579 m² of landfill waste.

The hotel emphasises staff and guest engagement through sustainability training, monthly “green team” meetings, and educational activities.

Responsible procurement of eco-friendly materials aligns with Accor’s sustainability commitments.

Muna Al Nahdi, Director - Sustainability & Consultancy at Farnek said: “Sofitel Dubai The Palm has successfully achieved Green Globe Platinum Certification, by showcasing measurable results, marking five years of continuous certification. This milestone demonstrates the hotel management’s ongoing commitment to sustainable operations, advancing sustainability within the hospitality sector and positioning it among the top Green Globe-certified hotels in the UAE.”
