The beachfront Jumeirah Royal Saray will open next month in Bahrain

Last month, Jumeirah Group announced widespread expansion plans for 2018, which will see the brand enter three new markets (Bahrain, Oman and Indonesia) and open further properties in the UAE and China. The announcement was made to partners and stakeholders at its annual Middle East Roadshow held at Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Dubai in collaboration with Emirates, Dubai Parks & Resorts and Royal Caribbean. Select media were invited to the gala dinner party, and the region’s most famous songstress Nancy Ajram was invited to serenade the guests.

Jumeirah’s ambitious expansion plans will feature at least five new luxury hotel openings in addition to the refurbishment and re-opening of Jumeirah Beach Hotel ahead of its 21st birthday in late 2018.

New properties include Jumeirah Royal Saray, Bahrain; Jumeirah Sa’adiyat Island, Abu Dhabi; Jumeirah Bali, Indonesia; Jumeirah Nanjing, China; and Jumeirah Muscat Bay, Oman.

The news followed Jumeirah Group reporting a strong performance in 2017, with an overall 5 per cent increase in the number of room nights and 6 per cent increase in room revenues compared to the same period last year. The hotel group also maintained stable year on year occupancy matching the same period in 2016. The GCC region accounted for 21 per cent of the overall occupancy throughout the year.

Linda Lewis, vice-president Global Sales, MEASA & ASPAC for Jumeirah Group, commented: “Jumeirah continues to strengthen its position as one of the most successful, UAE home-grown brands on a global scale. Our strong performance in 2017 is evidence of our robust and forward-looking business strategy and we are confident of continuing the success story in new markets in 2018. We believe that our strength lies in our ability to understand the needs of our guests and in creating bespoke luxury inspired by Arabic hospitality and charm. This achievement comes with the support and vision of the UAE’s leadership whose continued focus on building the tourism and hospitality sector has helped us to deliver business success.”

This year also saw Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts receive more than 75 prestigious accolades.
