JW Marriott and Aimbridge Hospitality have announced plans to transform Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa in Dana Point, California, which will reopen as The Ocean Cliffs at Dana Point, a JW Marriott Resort.
The resort, which has overlooked Dana Point Harbor for
nearly four decades, will undergo a phased renovation focused on upgraded
design, expanded gathering spaces and enhanced leisure and wellness amenities.
Key additions will include a new resort pool, an expanded
multi-acre event lawn, upgraded meeting facilities and a new 6,000-square-foot
ballroom. The property will also introduce a reimagined arrival experience, a
signature chef-driven restaurant and expanded resort amenities.
The renovation is designed to strengthen the resort’s
position as a destination for leisure travel, weddings, meetings and other
events, while maintaining its connection to Dana Point’s coastal setting.
Global hospitality design firms HKS and ROAM have been
appointed to reinterpret the property’s Victorian-era character through a
contemporary design inspired by Dana Point’s coastal heritage, Lantern District
and surf culture.
Public areas will be redesigned to maximise views of the
Pacific Ocean, including an expanded lobby, ocean-view deck and indoor-outdoor
meeting spaces. The event lawn will be relocated and expanded near the Richard
Henry Dana Ballroom to accommodate larger gatherings and multiple events.
The new central pool will become a focal point of the
resort, complemented by food and beverage offerings and ocean views.
The property’s 371 guest rooms will also receive refreshed
interiors featuring a coastal-inspired design. Existing family amenities,
including the family pool, cabanas, Kids’ Club and Splash Zone, will remain,
alongside new outdoor programming.
The transformation marks a new chapter for the long-standing
Dana Point resort as it joins the JW Marriott portfolio. -TTN
