GTM strengthens travel ties with Gulf states
Busy floor at Germany Travel Mart

The  Northwestern city of Oberhausen successfully hosted the 52nd Germany Travel Mart (GTM) from April 19 to 21, 2026.

“What incredible days of partnership and discovery in Oberhausen!” Yamina Sofo, Director of the Marketing and Sales Office at GNTO GCC, said. “It was a privilege to lead a dedicated delegation of travel specialists from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to this year’s GTM.”

Following the GNTB’s independent edition in 2025, the focus in 2026 was on personal B2B exchange, strengthening international business opportunities, and enhancing Germany’s visibility as a travel destination.

“The energy on the floor was palpable, resulting in over 175 fruitful meetings with representatives of the German travel trade.

“These conversations go beyond just business; they are the foundation for the next chapter of tourism between the GCC and Germany,” she said.

“Our media delegation from Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia also played a vital role, engaging at the GNTB press conference and experiencing the unique industrial charm and modern culture of the Ruhr area firsthand during their press tours.”

Oberhausen exemplifies the dynamic transformation of the Ruhr region – from an industrial heartland to an attractive urban destination with rich cultural offerings and high experiential value.

“Events like this remind us that tourism is built on meaningful gatherings and shared opportunities. A sincere thank you to the GTM team of German National Tourist Board and all our German partners for such a warm welcome and a highly productive week,” Sofo concluded.
