Gulf Air launches Kuala Lumpur flights ahead of F1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2026

Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air today (September 30) celebrated the launch of its inaugural flight to Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, thus marking the commencement of a new direct air link between the two countries and further expanding its international network ahead of Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2026.

The new service reinforces Gulf Air’s commitment to connecting Bahrain with key global markets while supporting tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two nations. 

This marks Gulf Air’s continued growth across Asia, offering passengers direct access to one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant economic and tourism hubs, said the Bahrain flag-carrier in a statement.

To commemorate the occasion, Gulf Air Group Chairman Khalid Taqi received Dato' Shazryll Zahiran, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and senior industry leaders at Bahrain International Airport prior to the departure of the inaugural flight.

Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the inaugural flight was celebrated with a welcoming reception attended by Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah, Deputy Minister of Transport in Malaysia; Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Malaysia; a senior delegation from Gulf Air; airport officials; invited guests; and Bahraini and Malaysian media representatives, said the statement.

The inauguration of the service comes ahead of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2026 being held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, further supporting Gulf Air’s role as title sponsor of the race in connecting fans, visitors, and travellers to one of the most anticipated international sporting events of the year, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
