Visit Qatar has launched Qatar Calendar 2026/2027, featuring more than 560 events, festivals and championships across the country, as Qatar seeks to strengthen its position as a year-round tourism destination.

The programme includes international sports, live entertainment, cultural events, family experiences, desert adventures and outdoor activities, with a particular focus on attracting visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Around one million GCC visitors have travelled to Qatar so far in 2026, accounting for more than 40% of the country’s total visitor arrivals, according to Visit Qatar. The new calendar aims to build on this regional demand by offering a broader programme of events throughout the year.

The calendar was unveiled at a launch event attended by senior government officials and representatives from Qatar’s public and private sectors.

Saad Al-Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar, formally opened the event, highlighting the calendar’s role in coordinating Qatar’s events programme and supporting the country’s international tourism profile.

Abdulaziz Al-Mawlawi, Chief Executive Officer of Visit Qatar, said: “The launch of Qatar’s unified national calendar today represents a strategic step that brings together the efforts of government entities and private-sector organisations under one national umbrella, sustainably strengthening Qatar’s position as a leading tourism destination regionally and internationally. Qatar has demonstrated its resilience and stability across various sectors, and through continued investment in the quality of tourism services, events and visitor experiences, we are building an integrated year-round tourism offering that supports the ambitions of Qatar National Vision 2030.”

The launch included a panel discussion titled “The Role of Sport in Enhancing the Country’s Image as a Dynamic Destination”, examining Qatar’s sporting legacy and the contribution of sports tourism to visitor growth.

Visit Qatar also introduced its new winter campaign, ‘A World of Events in Qatar’, aimed at GCC audiences and highlighting the country’s winter events and experiences.

The organisation signed partnership and cooperation agreements with Aspire Zone Foundation, Melt Live, Qatar Rail and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy to support the development of the national events calendar.

New digital initiatives were also announced, including a unified digital ticketing platform planned for launch in the fourth quarter of 2026 and a new Widget feature on the Visit Qatar app.

Qatar Calendar 2026/2027 is available through Visit Qatar’s digital platforms, allowing visitors to explore events and plan trips in advance. -TradeArabia News Service
