Barceló Hotel Group has opened Occidental Cairo Grand Museum, a 207-key four-star hotel in Cairo, strengthening the Spanish hospitality group’s presence in Egypt and the wider Middle East and North Africa region.

Located opposite the Grand Egyptian Museum and near the Pyramids of Giza, the new property offers a strategic base for leisure and business travellers exploring Cairo’s cultural attractions.

The hotel features 207 rooms and suites, a rooftop swimming pool, spa and wellness centre, fitness facility and a 266-square-metre meeting space accommodating events for up to 60 guests.

“Cairo is a strategic location due to its iconic appeal, commercial importance, and ability to offer rich cultural experiences. The addition of Occidental Cairo Grand Museum enhances our presence in this strategic market and demonstrates the strength of our management model in creating sustainable, long-term value for owners, guests, and destinations,” says José Canals, Chief Operations Officer for the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Asia at Barceló Hotel Group.

Barceló said its Egyptian operations support 1,876 direct and indirect jobs, while sourcing entirely from approved local suppliers.

Around 70% of these suppliers are based in the immediate area, generating more than €4 million ($4.6 million) in revenue. -TradeArabia News Service
