Transom, the aviation services arm of Oman Airports, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Air Algérie Group to establish a strategic partnership covering ground handling and other aviation-related services in Algeria.
The agreement marks Transom’s first entry into North Africa
and represents a new step in its international expansion, with the company
seeking to bring its operational expertise to Algeria’s growing aviation
market.
The MoU was signed by Nasser Ahmed Al Sharji, Acting CEO of
Oman Airports and CEO of Transom, and Hamza Benhamouda, CEO of Air Algérie
Group.
Al Sharji said the agreement was a milestone in Transom’s international growth strategy, highlighting Algeria’s market size, connectivity and development potential.
He said the company plans to draw on more than 50 years of
aviation experience to support operational performance, efficiency and
capability-building in the Algerian sector.
Benhamouda said the partnership could help improve ground
handling services and enhance the passenger experience at Algerian airports.
He added that cooperation between Air Algérie Group, Oman
Airports and Transom would create opportunities for broader integration and
collaboration across aviation services.
Transom’s international expansion is built around an
integrated portfolio covering ground handling, cargo, catering and hospitality
services.
The company has established operations across Oman and has
expanded its African footprint through operations at airports in Tanzania,
including Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro and Mwanza.
The move into Algeria extends that strategy, allowing Transom
to transfer Omani expertise and capabilities into another major African
aviation market.
Beyond geographical expansion, the company views the partnership as an opportunity to strengthen its position as an Omani aviation services provider capable of delivering operational value across diverse international markets. -TradeArabia News Service
