Affluent GCC travellers are booking summer private flights later than ever, with activity across XO, a private aviation marketplace, indicating that August1–2 is set to be the busiest weekend of the 2026 summer season for private flights departing from the region.
Analysis of booking patterns across XO, part of UAE-based
Vista, a private aviation group, shows that
flexibility is increasingly influencing travel decisions.
Many clients are finalising plans closer to departure as
they manage changing family commitments, multi-stop European holidays and
business priorities ahead of the GCC’s return to full business activity in
September.
Europe remains the leading destination region for GCC travellers,
with the UK topping demand, followed by France, Spain and Italy.
The US continues to perform strongly, while intra-GCC routes
remain resilient, reflecting the region’s continued blend of business mobility
and family connectivity.
London Luton has emerged as the most requested European
arrival airport, reinforcing London’s role as a key gateway for private
aviation demand from the GCC.
Youssef Mouallem, Chief Business Officer at Vista, said:
“One of the clearest trends we're seeing this summer is an even greater
emphasis on flexibility. While travellers across the Middle East have
traditionally booked closer to departure than many other markets, we're seeing
booking windows compress further. During the school holiday peak 31% more
flights were confirmed within 72 hours of travel compared with last summer and
the typical booking window shrank from around 11 days to nine.”
Mouallem added; “Rather than locking in travel weeks in
advance, many are preserving optionality until the final days before departure,
allowing them to adapt plans around family priorities, business commitments and
changing schedules. At the same time, demand continues to concentrate on
multi-stop European itineraries, reflecting a desire to maximise time by
combining several destinations within a single journey.”
The trend highlights a broader shift in how globally mobile
individuals value and manage their time, with flexibility becoming an
increasingly important luxury.
Mouallem Concluded: "Ultimately, this reflects a
broader shift in how affluent travellers value time. Increasingly, they expect
travel to adapt around them, not the other way around. Private aviation
delivers that flexibility through direct airport access, tailored routing and
the ability to adapt every journey as plans evolve.”
