Dubai's healthcare and immigration authorities are set to introduce a more seamless treatment journey for international patients under a new partnership aimed at strengthening the emirate's position as a global health tourism destination.
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will work together to simplify medical visa procedures, improve service integration and enhance the overall experience of patients travelling to Dubai for treatment, said a Gulf News report.Under the agreement, the two entities plan to create a coordinated patient journey that begins before a visitor arrives in Dubai and continues throughout treatment and recovery. The initiative is expected to reduce administrative hurdles and ensure faster access to healthcare services for overseas patients.A major focus of the collaboration will be the integration of electronic systems between the two organisations, enabling more efficient coordination of visa, residency and healthcare-related services. The partnership will also support closer integration with the health insurance ecosystem to facilitate smoother patient access to medical services. In addition, members of the Dubai Health Experience network will be provided with improved mechanisms to submit medical visa applications for patients travelling from outside the UAE, helping to accelerate processing and enhance convenience. The two authorities also intend to promote Dubai's healthcare ecosystem internationally through the Dubai Health Experience initiative, supporting efforts to attract more medical tourists to the emirate.Officials said the partnership will pave the way for future innovations, including the introduction of a smart medical visa and a range of proactive digital services designed to improve patient experiences and reinforce Dubai's competitiveness in the global health tourism market.
