ITB China 2026 has announced ITB China as its Official Insurance Partner, appointing Zurich Insurance Group through its China operations, Zurich China.

The partnership underscores the increasing importance of travel insurance and risk-management services within the global tourism value chain, while bringing a more structured professional insurance perspective to business networking, industry exchange, and partnership development at the event.

Zurich Insurance Group is a long-established global insurer with operations spanning more than 200 countries and territories and serving over 80 million customers.

Its travel insurance capabilities were significantly expanded following the 2024 acquisition of AIG’s global personal travel insurance and assistance business, including Travel Guard.

This move, combined with the integration of Cover-More Group, has strengthened Zurich’s worldwide travel protection and emergency assistance network.

In China, Zurich operates its travel insurance and assistance services through Zurich China, focusing on end-to-end travel protection solutions.

These include insurance coverage design, claims management, and emergency assistance services tailored for airlines, online travel agencies, travel management companies, and traditional travel agencies.

The goal is to provide seamless protection for travellers while supporting industry partners with more resilient service frameworks.

As Official Insurance Partner of ITB China 2026, Zurich China will use the platform to enhance its visibility and deepen engagement with key stakeholders across China’s and the global travel industry.

This includes destination marketing organisations, airlines, digital travel platforms, and corporate travel buyers.

Through these interactions, Zurich aims to identify new cooperation opportunities and strengthen its positioning as a leading travel protection provider.

For ITB China, the partnership adds a new layer of financial and risk-management expertise to its tourism ecosystem.

It broadens the show’s professional scope by integrating insurance services into the travel industry dialogue, reinforcing the importance of safety, resilience, and contingency planning in modern tourism development.

Looking ahead, Zurich China plans to leverage this collaboration to expand its presence in China’s growing travel insurance market.

It will integrate newly acquired global capabilities, improve cross-border claims handling, and enhance emergency medical assistance services across major destinations.

The company also aims to deepen cooperation with airlines, travel platforms, and corporate travel providers to deliver more tailored and adaptable protection solutions.

As China’s outbound and inbound travel markets continue to expand, demand for comprehensive travel protection is rising.

Zurich China’s participation in ITB China 2026 highlights its ambition to become a trusted partner for both travellers and industry stakeholders, combining global expertise with localised service delivery to support the evolution of safer, more resilient tourism services.

Charlie Chai, General Manager of Zurich China, said: “We are very honoured to participate in ITB China 2026 on behalf of Zurich China and to explore new industry opportunities together with peers from across China’s travel sector. Following Zurich Insurance Group’s successful acquisition of AIG’s global personal travel insurance business, our participation in this year’s show marks an important milestone in deepening our strategic presence in the China market. Through this key platform, we aim to communicate Zurich China’s firm commitment as a professional travel insurance service provider to both the industry and the wider public. Zurich is not only an insurance group with a heritage of more than a century, but also a trusted protection expert with many years of experience in the travel ecosystem, widely recognised for its service excellence and highly tailored capabilities.”

Lydia Li, Deputy General Manager of Messe Berlin (China), the organiser of ITB China, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Zurich China to ITB China 2026 as the Official Insurance Partner. The development of the travel industry depends on professional and comprehensive protection systems. Its expertise in travel insurance and global assistance services will bring a valuable new perspective to the ITB China ecosystem and create more opportunities for cooperation among travel companies in service enhancement and risk protection.” -TradeArabia News Service
