The Indian Ocean puts on its most spectacular show each September at the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, hosting the Surfing Champions Trophy from September 4 to 11, 2026.

Now in its 14th edition, this invitation-only event brings together surfing’s elite to compete across three board disciplines—single fin, twin fin, and thruster—at the legendary Sultans reef break, with Kuda Huraa serving as the island base for competitors, judges, and guests.

Since its inaugural edition in 2011, the Trophy has set a new standard for surfing events, attracting a hall of fame–worthy roster of champions.

Past winners include Mark Occhilupo, Damien Hardman, Taylor Knox, Shane Dorian, Taj Burrow, Kelly Slater, and Joel Parkinson, while participants have featured iconic surfers like Carissa Moore, Maya Gabeira, Bethany Hamilton, Tom Curren, Rob Machado, and Layne Beachley. Each year delivers a fresh mix of talent, ensuring consistently thrilling competition.

The 2025 edition was unforgettable, as Tahitian surfer Michel Bourez overcame a hamstring injury to claim victory in the thruster division and the grand final, scoring the event’s only perfect 10.

Australian Olympian Owen Wright, Jesse Mendes, Craig Anderson, and Maldivian wildcard Ismail “Smiley” Rasheed also made the 2025 event remarkable.

For enthusiasts, the Surf’s Up package offers immersive experiences including expert coaching, guided boat trips to top breaks, yoga, massages, surf equipment, and luxury accommodations.

Social highlights include cocktail parties with private chefs and specialty drinks, providing unforgettable access to surfing legends. -TradeArabia News Service
