Royal Opera House Muscat season opens
The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) launched its 2024/25 season with a remarkable series of performances last month, with Un Ballo in Maschera by Giuseppe Verdi being performed for the first time in Oman.
Umberto Fanni, Director General and Artistic Director of ROHM, expressed his pride in the season’s launch: “It is an honour to present Giuseppe Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera in Muscat for the first time, brought to life by the China National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) as the opening of our 2024/25 season.
“This remarkable collaboration between ROHM and NCPA is a testament to the powerful role that cultural institutions play in fostering mutual understanding through the universal language of art. It will remain a memorable evening and one of the highlights of our season.”
Dubai Opera plans Global Artistic Program
Dubai Opera, for its 2024 – 2025 season, is all set to welcome over 50 international performances to the stage, including regional debuts, new collaborations and modern interpretations of opera, ballet and musical theatre.
This season’s schedule encompasses a range of genres from classical ballet to international rock and folk, to contemporary musicals and symphonic concerts, each reaffirming Dubai Opera’s position as the premier performing arts destination in the UAE.
The 2024-2025 season will see UAE debuts from more than ten major artists and companies from around the world. More than 1,000 performers will take to the stage throughout the season.
Global Village returns with enhancements
Global Village, the region’s premier multicultural family destination for entertainment, dining, shopping and attractions, has returned for its 29th season with surprise additions and enhancements across the destination.
Global Village has introduced a Restaurant Plaza and three new culture-rich pavilions, inviting everyone to explore something unique each season.
The Railway Market, Floating Market, and Fiesta Street have transformed with fresh, new concepts, creating the perfect ambiance and providing a spot for capturing ‘Instagrammable’ moments. New green promenades are also placed throughout the destination to provide a beautiful setting and enrich the guest experience.
Highlander 2025 in RAK set to be largest ever
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has announced the return of Highlander Adventure, organised by Highlander, the world’s largest international hiking association. This upcoming edition will feature a third additional format, Highlander Lyra, a one-day challenge covering 20 kilometres in a single day for adventure seekers with limited time on their hands.
Set to take place from February 7 to 9, 2025, this premier long-distance hiking challenge will offer hikers and adventure enthusiasts the chance to test themselves on the spectacular trails of Jebel Jais.
What makes this challenge even more memorable is the opportunity to hike through heritage and discover old Emirati settlements and active farms that will highlight the history and diversity of Ras Al Khaimah while showcasing how communities have lived and worked in this rocky region for centuries.
