The Abu Dhabi International Airport has been officially renamed Zayed International Airport, in honour of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The changing of name, announced in October last year, was done following the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The renaming follows the opening of the state-of-the-art Terminal A of the airport in November 2023. The terminal can accommodate 45 million passengers annually and 79 aircraft at any given time.
