Bahrain to host largest food tourism event

Bahrain’s capital Manama will host UNWTO’s World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism in 2024, it was announced at the 8th edition of the forum in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain.

Bahrain will be the first Middle East country to host the prestigious forum.

Gastronomy Tourism can play a leading role in promoting responsible agricultural practices as well as help local communities thrive, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili said opening the forum in San Sebastián.

He said: “Gastronomy Tourism can play a leading role in promoting responsible agricultural practices, protecting biodiversity and reducing the environmental footprint. 

“It can also create new opportunities for communities to thrive and protect their heritage and traditions and become an engine of growth and diversification for destinations supporting our roadmap towards the Sustainable Development Goals.”

The event was co-organised with Basque Culinary Center (BCC), with a focus on the links between product, gastronomy and tourism.

 

Visit Bahrain showcases kingdom in Moscow

Visit Bahrain, a leading destination management company in the kingdom, showcased the kingdom’s tourism potential at ‘Unique Travel Fair’ held in Moscow, Russia.

The company presented Bahrain’s position on the international tourism map as a top-tier destination, to the Russians, regional and global visitors.

Visit Bahrain showcased the kingdom’s diverse range of tourist packages that included organised trips and tours to iconic landmarks; comprehensive services such as transportation, accommodation, customised tourism itineraries, destination planning, recreational activities, cultural performances, and concerts.

It further engaged with visitors by distributing flyers that provided insights into Bahrain’s cultural richness, warm hospitality and high-quality facilities. The company also highlighted Bahrain’s renowned hotels, spas, and theme parks.

Ali Amralla, the CEO of Visit Bahrain, underlined the significance of the Russian market in driving tourism in Bahrain. He stressed the company’s strong commitment to expanding its visitor base from the Russian market.

 

Bahrain to host major golf event next year

Bahrain will host the DP World International Golf tour from February 1 to 4, 2024 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) unveiled the tour details, a Bahrain News Agency report said.

“Golf enjoys the great support and care of His Majesty the King, who is a golfer himself. This reflects His Majesty’s great interest in sports and support for athletes. We are proud of the royal patronage of the tour, which will contribute to its success,” he said.

Shaikh Khalid affirmed Bahrain’s pride in hosting this prestigious international golf tournament at the Royal Golf Club, expressing confidence in the tour’s success.

 

Bahrain International to host Routes World

Bahrain International Airport will host the 29th edition of Routes World in Bahrain from October 6 to 8, 2024, with more than 2,500 aviation professionals from around the world taking part.

The conference baton was passed on to Zayed R Alzayani, Chairman of Gulf Air Group Holding (GFG), by Selahattin Bilgen, the CEO of Istanbul Airport, during a handover ceremony held at the 28th conference in Istanbul, Turkey.

The announcement comes as part of Gulf Air Group Holding’s participation in the 28th edition of Routes World that took place in Istanbul from October 15 to 17. GFG was in attendance alongside a special Bahrain delegation including Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), Bahrain Economic Development Board, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, and Exhibition World Bahrain.
