Jordanian Olympian and Local Organizing Committee (LOC) CEO of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2016, Samar Nassar, British former Director of Cycling at Sky TV and sports marketing innovator, Tricia Thompson, and leading women’s sports specialist and strategic board lead for Sport England’s globally acclaimed “This Girl Can” campaign, Kate Bosomworth have joined the line-up of speakers for the highly anticipated International Conference of Sports for Women (ICSW), set to be held from November 6 to 7 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Organized by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA), ICSW has been recognised as a pioneering platform through which sports leaders, professionals and fans can meet to discuss all issues related to women’s sports. Kate Bosomworth, one of the founders of Sport England’s massively successful “This Girl Can” campaign, has helped change women’s attitudes towards sports by alleviating the fear of judgment that was seen as one of the biggest deterrents to women’s participation in sports. As a result of the campaign, over 1.6 million women have started exercising, and the gap between men and women participating in sports has decreased dramatically. Today, “This Girl Can” has its sights set on much more, as plans to expand the campaign are in motion.

“What we’ve done with ‘This Girl Can’ in the UK is very close to what ICSW is looking to achieve in the Middle East. It’s very uplifting to see that the vision to develop women’s sports is becoming a global one, and that there are individuals dedicating their time and effort to helping women across the world get active and become more involved in sport.” said Bosomworth.
