A MEMBER of the Leading Hotels of the World and awarded Europe Luxury Hotel 2013 by World Luxury Hotel Awards, Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, is a five-star brand of FRHI Hotels & Resorts, located in the centre of Istanbul on the European banks of the Bosphorus. Nestled within 65 acres of historical gardens with world-class shopping and a vibrant nightlife nearby, it offers 497 guest rooms and suites.
FRHI also has a property each in Ankara (Swissôtel Ankara) and Izmir (Swissôtel Buyuk Efes, Izmir) and plans to expand aggressively in Turkey with at least four projects in the pipeline under all its brands – Swissôtel, Raffles and Fairmont.
Swissôtel Bodrum Beach, slated for a summer opening this year, will enjoy an enviable location on the waterfront in Turgutreis, in the port city of Bodrum and the airport. The two-storey hotel comprises 66 rooms and suites as well as villas and duplex terraces, which house 72 private residences. The resort will offer indoor and outdoor pools, several restaurants, a Pürovel Spa and Sport and a range of sporting activities. Offering a warm Mediterranean climate for much of the year, the destination offers ideal conditions for surfing, diving and other water sports.
Swissôtel Bodrum Hill, expected to be on the market in 2016, will complement the brand’s established beach resort offering, and provide guests with a panoramic view over the city, as well as 56 guestrooms and suites, 45 private residences, three restaurants and a Pürovel Spa and sport facility.
Raffles Istanbul, also set to open doors this summer, will be located in the Zincirlikuyu district, on the European side of the city. The property will be part of a new mixed-use development spread over more than 1.1 million sq ft – bringing together a performing arts centre, residences, retail and hospitality, with views of River Bosphorus.
Designed by leading firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, the interiors will work as a contemporary interpretation of traditional Turkish design, with generous use of glass and crystal, contrasted with modern mosaics. The hotel will feature a collection of original artwork – a combination of existing works specially commissioned for the hotel.
The property features 130 guest rooms and 51 suites, from standard rooms at 65 sq m to the largest suites at 370 sq m. Guest services include tablet check-in, direct access to the performing arts centre and shopping areas, a roof-top heliport, restaurants and bars, a ballroom with 1,200-person capacity and a signature Raffles Spa and fitness centre.
Fairmont Quasar in Istanbul, scheduled for an opening in 2016, will house a Fairmont Hotel and Fairmont Residences as well as Quasar Residences and offices, which will be managed by Fairmont. The hotel will feature Fairmont Gold, a number of lounges and several restaurants, 2,000 sq m of function space, and a Willow Stream Spa. These openings will increase FRHI’s count to seven hotels in Turkey alone and noticeably strengthen their presence in the country.
