TRAVELPORT has continued its Middle East expansion with the opening of a new office in Erbil, Iraq. The new commercial hub underlines the importance of Iraq as an important investment region for Travelport and now serves the travel agent community in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk regions.

In Iraq, Travelport is officially represented by Rawat Al Hajer Co. To mark the new Erbil office opening and to showcase Travelport’s offer in Iraq, Rawat Al Hajer Co., along with Travelport team in the region, organized a product roadshow in Erbil this month.

Travelport and Karibu have announced the continuation of their successful 15-year business relationship with the signing of a multi-year renewal contract.

The new deal will see Travelport continue to provide Karibu – which has been serving the travelling public in east Africa for the past 50 years – with its expertise and top of the range technology products and solutions including Smartpoint, Travelport Mobile Agent, Agentivity and eTravel Back office system.

Other announcements include a multi-year global distribution agreement between Travelport and Finnair, a Nordic region carrier, as well as the renewal of Travelport’s long-term distribution agreements for Galileo and Worldspan GDS platforms in Lebanon.
