Fast and Furious for Thrifty Car Rental
      Posted on: May 2012

THRIFTY Car Rental in the UAE announced its offering of high-end sports cars to customers with the addition of the 2012 model Ford Mustang 5.0 and the 2012 Dodge Charger. With a first quarter 2012 purchase of more than 1,500 vehicles, Thrifty’s overall fleet in the UAE is now over 15,000 vehicles.

“There are a number of regional travellers to the UAE who visit for an extended weekend. Many of these tourists appreciate the flashy lifestyle of the UAE, especially the big cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and a flashy car would complete the total experience,” said Rahul Singh, general manager, Thrifty Car Rental UAE.

Thrifty sees tremendous opportunity in the UAE as the travel market continues to improve. The increased number discounted deals  in hotel stays and tourist activities  has led to  a rise in the in-bound tourist traffic, resulting in increased business activity for Thrifty Car Rental by over 35 per cent at the end of Q1 2012 compared to Q1 2011.

“Hotels in the country have become a lot more affordable than before, and at peak times, they operate at up to 115 per cent, so clearly there is an increase in tourist in the UAE,” continued Singh. “At Thrifty, we are looking at the dynamic tourist market and adapting to the needs and wants of the tourists. We already have had a fantastic response to our sports car range.”

Thrifty is also adding to its 36 locations in the UAE, with new rental counters in Ibn Batuta Mall and the World Trade Centre.

Thrifty will inaugurate its new location at the World Trade Centre at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM). Additionally, Thrifty will be accepting rentals for its new sports car range and 2012 models at Sheikh Saeed Arena Stand # CR 310 at ATM.
