THE Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a palace steeped in history and a sense of mellow luxury, is today one of the oldest hotels situated on Lake Como. With its stunning location, the hotel is ideal for the Middle Eastern guests looking for some exclusivity. The company recently signed up with Discover the World Marketing in Dubai to promote its property to Arab guests. TTN speaks to marketing manager Valentina de Santis to find out more.
Why do you think your hotel appeals to Arab travellers?
Grand Hotel Tremezzo is a five-star grand hotel and centenary palace steeped in history which offers high-end luxury rooms and suites with warm Italian hospitality. Its restaurants, in a partnership with Marchesi, are unrivalled in their gastronomic offering and are renowned in the area. Especially attractive to Arab guests, the hotel recently opened an all-suite top floor to this iconic building offering a wider selection of suites and butler service. Guests looking for culture, scenery, and a relaxed and tranquil setting with the highest of service and the utmost in luxury accommodation will not be disappointed by the hotel.
How do you plan to position the property in the region?
We intend to work very closely with the key travel trade, airlines, VIPs and high-net-worth individuals as well as with Lake Como itself, to drive bookings and partnerships. We believe we have a winning formula with our all-suite floor that offers interconnecting rooms and a facility for private chefs.
We have introduced an offer that will appeal not only to the travel trade but also to bookers and guests. The special promotion that runs from until the end August will offer a guests an attractive full packaged rate, with upgrades, early check in, breakfast, boat tour, entrance to the Villa Carlotta ( Botanical Gardens ) and a one-hour spa treatment. With this offer we are looking to position the property to all segments within the Middle East. We also have plans for a roadshow across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE.
Tell us about the various accommodation options at the hotel?
The hotel offers 88 elegant rooms and 10 exclusive suites. Delicate pastel décor, luxurious materials, refined furnishings and period prints enrich all the rooms, which also offer guests breath-taking views of the lake and the 20,000 sq m park around it.
Two luxury historical suites are located in the heart of the Palace, the Suite Carlotta and Suite Greta, a tribute respectively to our world-famous neighbour, the Villa Carlotta and to Greta Garbo, one of the first Hollywood stars to become enamoured of Lake Como and Tremezzo.
Our extra-luxurious all-suites rooftop floor offers five luxurious suites and three junior suites, each with private terrace and outdoor heated Jacuzzi. The floor can also be booked as a penthouse with the option of two, four or eight bedrooms.
Additionally, we have 88 luxurious and very spacious rooms, furnished with the highest of Lake Como silks, and antique furniture, marble bathrooms fitted with rain showers, a Jacuzzi, with its own brand in amenities. We also offer free WiFi in all our rooms.
What facilities do you offer guests?
For diners, the hotel offers a varied and refined gourmet dining experience, under the guidance of top chef Gualtiero Marchesi. The Marchesi philosophy covers every aspect of the hotel’s food and beverage offering and is mainly focused on the main gourmet restaurant La Terrazza, serving the finest examples of Italian cuisine on the loveliest terrace on the whole of Lake Como. The menu changes with the seasons to take advantage of local produce and fresh water fish, featuring traditional dishes enlivened with a touch of creativity.
For a truly authentic Italian dining experience, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo offers another restaurant and three very special snack bars open for lunch. L’Escale Fondue & Wine Bar is the ideal place to enjoy the special pleasure of an informal meal of meat and fish fondues and grills. T Bar, with its classic, irresistible charm of a luxury hotel bar, is a romantic lounge, ideal for one of the signature cocktails at sunset.
In the midst of the tranquil park is the Piscina dei Fiori, ideal for relaxing, and an infinity pool. We also have the T Spa with a lake view, offering five different types of hydro massages. The spa also offers a relaxation lounge with stunning views and three different lines of luxurious face and body treatments.
What do you offer the region’s travel agents?
We have launched our Middle East Travel Trade Special package in the region, offering a value-added package for a two-night stay, with over 15 per cent off BAR, with the ability to extend for three nights or more at a reduced rate and indeed added commission levels at 12 per cent to travel trade, with an incentive programme and rewards for top bookers.
