Oman Air gets new COO

Captain Nasser Al Salmi has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Oman Air. Captain Salmi, a seasoned industry leader brings more than three decades of hands-on industry know-how and C-suite expertise to Oman Air, including pivotal operational expertise from his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer at Gulf Air.


Raffuzzi accepts EAM role

The Retreat Palm Dubai MGallery by Sofitel has appointed Emanuele Raffuzzi as its new Executive Assistant Manager. He brings in more than 25 years of experience. Prior to joining The Retreat Palm Dubai, he was the Director of Operations at The Ritz-Carlton Al Hamra Beach in Ras Al Khaimah.


Nierhaus leads Deutsche in MidEast

Deutsche Hospitality has appointed Siegfried Nierhaus as Vice President of its Middle East division. Nierhaus was previously responsible for the strategic regional expansion and opening of the first Steigenberger Hotel and IntercityHotel in the region. He will lead the group’s envisaged expansion plans in the Middle East.


Al Harrasi is finance director

Kempinski Hotel Muscat has appointed Mohammed Al Harrasi as Director of Finance. Mohammed brings over 25 years’ experience in hotel operations to his new role. He joined Kempinski Hotel Muscat as Director of Purchasing in 2017. Mohammed was one of the winners of the ‘Hospitality Championship 2020’ awards.


HMH appoints Zager

Michael Zager has been appointed the new Chief Operating Officer of Hospitality Management Holding (HMH). Most recently, Zager was Vice President Operations Continental Europe at IHG. In 30 years of his hospitality career, Michael has worked with brands like IHG, Wyndham Hotel Group and Marriott.


Salibi returns to Raffles Dubai

Accor announces the appointment of Afif Salibi as General Manager of Raffles Dubai. Prior to this, he was with Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech, within the Accor portfolio. Canadian and Lebanese national, he is no stranger to Accor and to Raffles Dubai, having been with the group since 2007.


Barcelo appoints regional MD

Barceló Hotel Group has appointed José Canals as Managing Director for Middle East and Asia. Canals has been with the hotel group for over 25 years, already responsible for the Mediterranean and north Africa regions. He will now also spearhead the group’s expansion in the Middle East, East Africa and Asia.


Allen appointed EVP, dnata

The Emirates Group has appointed Steve Allen as the Executive Vice President of dnata. Since 2016, he has been overseeing dnata’s ground handling and cargo operations and airport hospitality services in the UAE. For the past nine months he had also been leading dnata’s travel businesses and ongoing transformation.
