Granet to oversee Africa as well

AccorHotels has announced the promotion of Olivier Granet as managing director and chief operating officer for the Middle East as well as Africa. He is responsible for a diverse portfolio of brands and the transformative growth for economy and midscale segments for Middle East and Africa.

 

New GM at Millennium Plaza Dubai

The Millennium Plaza Dubai has appointed Nemo Acimovic – previously heading as Millennium Corniche Abu Dhabi – as the new general manager. With more than 27 years of industry experience, Acimovic has a proven record of success in luxury properties in the UK, Australia and the Middle East.

 

Ayla Bawadi makes key hire

Ashraf Ramez has taken on the role of rooms division manager in charge of operations at Ayla Bawadi Hotel in Al Ain. Bringing 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry, the Egyptian national was rooms division manager at an Abu Dhabi complex. He started his career with Rotana Hotels.

 

Le Méridien Dubai expands events team

Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre has announced Ileshaa Nijhawan and Ekta Kapoor as groups and events sales managers, reinstating its commitment to Dubai’s emerging Mice industry. A business management graduate from the University of Warwick UK, Ileshaa joined the hotel as an events and sales executive in 2012 and was soon promoted to assistant groups and events sales manager. She brings to her new role years of hands-on experience in the events and banqueting business. A post-graduate in business management, Ekta comes with eight years of banquet sales and event management experience. She started her hospitality career in 2009 in Mumbai.

 

Bedran joins Dubai Link

Dubai Link Travel and Tourism has welcomed a new director of business development, Nassry Bedran. Bedran brings a wealth of industry experience, spanning more than 20 years in the travel and tourism industry, where he assumed leadership positions with leading DMCs and tour operators in the region.

 

Heuveling heads Villa Rosa Kempinski

Villa Rosa Kempinski has appointed hospitality guru Kees Heuveling as its new general manager, replacing Manish Nambiar, who moved to the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast Accra, Ghana. Before this role, Heuveling served in a similar capacity at Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square, Vilnius, Lithuania.

 

Brandes joins Bab Al Qasr

Bab Al Qasr Hotel & Residences has appointed a new general manager – York Brandes, who will be responsible for the 677 rooms and residences at Bab Al Qasr Hotel & Residences. The German hotelier has 34 years in luxury hospitality industry and his career background is in food and beverages.

 

Ascott appoints new director of sales

Ascott has appointed Meenu Singh as director of sales for Somerset Panorama Muscat, Oman from her previous role at Coral Muscat. She will oversee the sales of the 277-unit apartment hotel, and provide a strategic implementation of long and short-term plans towards business development.
