BRITAIN'S tourism body VisitBritain and British Airways last month invited 70 of the world’s most influential travel writers and broadcasters from 31 countries to see the country’s many new and value-for-money attractions, and to encourage consumers to continue to travel despite the economic downturn.
The global group, including TTN’s editor Cheryl Mandy, were welcomed at Buckingham Palace as part of the media tour, where a royal reception at Buckingham Palace was hosted by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, part of his 88th birthday engagements.
The journalists then toured London and split into several groups to tour different parts of the country. TTN went to the Lake District.
