THE Banyan Tree Al Areen Spa in Bahrain is a Middle Eastern inspired resort offering various spa experiences from packages to tailor made treatments.
Located in a dedicated wing of the resort, the 10,000 sq m spa and hydrotherapy area is the largest in the Middle East and a world first in terms of size, design and treatments.
The Spa features 12 spa pavilions, eight deluxe spa pavilions and four royal spa pavilions, each with twin treatment beds, twin rain mist shower beds, infinity or sunken bathtubs and a private garden.
The Banyan Tree Phuket Spa Academy was established in 2001 to provide training facilities to ensure the resort therapists consistently deliver high quality treatments. Accredited by Thailand’s education and public health ministries, Spa Academy therapists undergo at least 300 hours of rigorous theoretical and practical training.
The emphasis on a ‘high touch, low tech’ approach incorporating the use of human touch and natural, indigenous ingredients such as lemongrass and Thai herbs.
The training programme encompasses all aspects of spas, including modern and traditional massage techniques, variation of body weight for different techniques, knowledge of skin and facial applications, properties of different herbs and spices, preparation of spa ingredients, setting up of treatment rooms and spa pavilions, and standard greeting procedures.
Banyan Tree Spa has developed its own signature techniques, treatment recipes as well as training philosophy which has now been formalised into a syllabus used by trainee therapists, handpicked from the various provinces of Thailand.
