The World Travel Market (WTM) next month is a chance for the industry to unite to protect "the industry and the people it serves" in the face of the turmoil sparked by the terror attacks in the US, says a top WTM official
WTM group exhibitions director Fiona Jeffery said in a personal message following the US attacks that the industry was facing "an exceptional time, like no other that I can remember".
"But that does not mean we should give up," she said.
"Throughout the world, millions of people rely on the industry for their livelihood. It is an industry that is a way of life, an economic earner and a passion. And one with so much worth and value that we must do everything within our power to maintain."
She said the event will be a means of demonstrating that "we have the determination to protect this industry".
