ZIMBABWE has unveiled an aggressive marketing package to boost arrival receipts and entice tourists into the country ahead of the 2010 soccer World Cup in South Africa, according to media reports.
The global soccer showcase offers a golden opportunity for the lucrative tourism sector to market its tourism treasures, The Herald reported. The marketing campaign is based on the belief that South Africa, like Germany, will be unlikely to single-handedly accommodate all visitors.
Zimbabwe’s game-rich tourism product is expected to play a pivotal role in pulling large crowds of visitors, especially in Hwange National Park, Victoria Falls, the Eastern Highlands, Great Zimbabwe and Kariba. Most of the country's top attractions are also Unesco World Heritage Sites.
However, excellent tourism and hotel facilities and easy accessibility to major attraction centres could spur the sector just before, during and after the world soccer showcase.
