Discover Europe Travel Summit kicks off in Dubai

Austria, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland are making a successful return to Dubai with 4,000 pre-scheduled meetings taking place as part of its Discover Europe Travel Summit in bid to boost ties with the GCC market ahead of Arabian Travel Market (ATM).

Austria, Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland are making a successful return to Dubai with more than 4,000 pre-scheduled meetings taking place as part of its Discover Europe Travel Summit ahead of the top regional industry event Arabian Travel Market (ATM).
 
The two-day summit, which kicks off today (May 7) is the perfect platform to introduce the four countries' seasonal offerings and beautiful nature before the GCC clinetele, said its organisers. 
 
The event will bring together a delegation of 97 exhibitors from across Austria, Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland, for a discussion with more than 100 hosted buyers from the GCC. 
 
The highly anticipated event enables the European nations the chance to share their attractions and other strengths, as well as create lasting professional relationships.
 
Tourism spokespersons of these four European nations will be at the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, The Palm, Dubai, untill May 9 with the aim of strengthening ties with the Middle East market. 
 
According to the organisers, the event, which comes just before the ATM, is the perfect pre-cursor to the region’s largest travel exhibition, which will involve discussions and debates on an array of topics, including new technologies and industry trends.
 
"The GCC remains a key market from inbound tourism to Germany," remarked Yamina Sofo, Director of Sales & Marketing at the German National Tourist Office, the regional office of the German National Tourist Board.
 
"With our incredible cultural offerings and beautiful nature, we believe we offer GCC residents the opportunity to explore something different. The Discover Europe event is the perfect way for us to introduce that to key partners," he added.
 
Aisling McDermott, Manager Middle East & Asia of Tourism Ireland, said: "We’re really pleased to make our inaugural appearance at the Discover Europe event and are excited to see the fruits of our labour come to the fore."
 
"Joining the event was an easy decision for us as we’ve witnessed the success in previous years and it’s great to have the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with top European tourism boards," he added.
 
Matthias Albrecht, Director GCC of Switzerland Tourism, said: "After an extremely strong comeback of guests from the GCC in 2021, the region became a priority market within the market framework of Switzerland Tourism."
 
"I am delighted to see a record number of Swiss and European partners who invest and interact with travel agents and tour operators from the GCC. 2021 was a comeback year, in 2022 the four organizing countries hope to see an outstanding number of guests from the region" he added.
 
Robert Groeblacher, Head of Markets Middle East & India of Austrian National Tourist Office, said: "Being able to reconnect with the GCC market and get an understanding of the latest trends is always brilliant."
