EXPO 2020 Dubai is still on track to take place from October 20 this year said the organisers, but they are monitoring the Covid-19 situation carefully, citing health and wellbeing as their priority above all else.

A spokesperson from Expo 2020 Dubai said, “Alongside the government of the UAE, we are working hard to adapt to unfolding events surrounding the spread of Covid-19. The health and well-being of everyone living in and visiting the UAE is our top priority and will not be compromised. Like many governments around the world, the UAE authorities have taken robust preventative measures to contain the rapid spread of the virus.

“In common with other organisations, Expo 2020 Dubai is closely monitoring ongoing developments and taking sensible precautions to manage and mitigate the risk to all those involved in the Expo. As we continue to prepare for this event, we will be adjusting planned preparations, as changing circumstances require. We will be diligently following the latest guidance from the Dubai Health Authority, Ministry of Health and Prevention, World Health Organization and other relevant bodies.

“Expo 2020 is not due to open until late October and we continue on track. We are working very closely with UAE authorities and the International Bureau of Expositions in Paris as the situation around the world evolves. We will remain attentive and alert in the coming days and weeks and are confident that the collective strength and resilience of our Expo community will enable us to navigate through these most difficult of times.”

Tickets for Expo 2020 Dubai, billed by organisers as the greatest show on earth, went for sale earlier this year. The first World Expo to be held within the Middle East, Africa and South Asia event is set to welcome 25 million visitors from around the world.

A one-day admission ticket for adults will cost Dh120, while students and those aged six to 17 will pay Dh60. Additionally, senior citizens, children, and people of determination will be allowed in for free.

For solo travellers or couples, Expo will offer once-in-a-lifetime cultural experiences alongside a myriad of culinary and entertainment options for any craving or budget. Foodies will have access to an unprecedented number of dining options, from fine dining to food trucks with Expo 2020 anticipated to collect more Michelin stars than anywhere else in the world in 2020-21. Culture vultures are in for a treat too; street theatre, art exhibitions, opera, classical and contemporary performances await.

Students will be able to tailor their journey and explore at their own pace. Curated pavilion journeys or experiential learning activities across all key interest groups will develop their curiosities day or night. Additional workshops and classes will enable them to tap into content streams that complement their study programmes.
