Turkish Airlines will add up to 30 new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to its fleet

Turkey's national carrier is soaring high with the addition of a new fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, while bolstering its regional and Asia Pacific connections.

Turkish Airlines has announced that up to 30 new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will join the airlines’ young and fast-growing fleet over the next four years, and each will feature the carrier’s bespoke, all-new Business Class Cabins. The Turkish national flag carrier had placed 25 firm + 5 optional orders in last year for the 787-9 Dreamliner, which will be gradually added to its expanding fleet – the youngest in the world – between 2019 and 2023.

Regarded as one of the most advanced aircraft for its fuel efficiency and range flexibility, the 787-9 Dreamliner will open new routes for Turkish Airlines, reinforcing its status as the carrier that flies to more countries than any other. The new aircraft will offer passengers refined comfort during the longest journeys across 311 destinations in 124 countries.

Turkish Airlines’ Dreamliner has a seating capacity for 300 passengers, including 270 economy class seats and 30 business class seats. The carrier’s 787 includes long haul economy class seats and business class monuments produced in Turkey by Turkish suppliers.

The Dreamliners feature 30 exceptional, all-new Business Class seats, offering unique in-flight experience. Forty-four-inch legroom and a 180-degree full flat 76-inch seat bed length are provided for each of the 30 seats. Increased seclusion comes from the adjustable privacy panel between the paired middle seats and newly designed seat shell, while an 18-inch HD video display and touchscreen remote control raise the entertainment offering. Suede-like alcantara padding -commonly found in sports cars-, used for the interior trimming of each Business Class seat, adding another welcome touch of luxury and refinement.

Strengthening its GCC connections, Turkish Airlines inked a new strategic partnership with Kuwait Airways. The new code sharing partnership will see Kuwait national carrier’s code added to Turkish Airlines flights, and Turkey’s national carrier’s code added to Kuwait Airways flights operated between Kuwait and Istanbul/Sabiha Gokcen Airports. The bilateral codeshare partnership will commence from August 1.

Turkish Airlines general manager, Bilal Ekşi said he is pleased with the new codeshare agreement signed with Kuwait Airways and added that the agreement would not only contribute to the carrier’s existing commercial relations with Kuwait Airways but also offer alternative connections between Turkey and Kuwait for Turkish Airlines passengers.

Also turkish has launched a new direct flight to Indonesia's world-famous holiday island, Bali. The global carrier’s Istanbul-Bali direct flights will be operated as seven frequencies per week.
