Mr Miyagi’s Hello Kitty night is back in Dubai with silent disco this time

The new policy could potentially allow visitors of any nationality to stay in the UAE for nearly a week. However, only those with a confirmed onward journey or ticket and hotel reservations are eligible for a short-term transit visa.

Around 70 per cent of passengers transited through UAE airports in 2017, according to official numbers. It’s no secret that UAE airports attract millions of passengers every year. Apart from the obvious attractions, shopping malls, desert safaris and museums, there is a plethora of experiences in the country that are perhaps not recommended by agents and operators.

Did you know, for instance, that Dubai has a host of ‘escape rooms’ for your guests to try? Each escape game scenario is an interactive experience designed for groups of friends, family or even co-workers. The objective is simple and yet daunting; in 60 minutes you must work together, find clues, decode messages and solve problems to unlock the door to freedom. The escape games, some of which can be played as two teams competing against each other, require logical quick thinking and delegating under pressure. Am I the only one reminded of The Crystal Maze and Edward Tudor Pole here?

The Escape Hunt Experience on Wasl Road in Dubai is the global leader in this fast-growing themed entertainment industry, offering live “escape the room” games for the public and corporate clients all over the world. With branches from Sydney to Paris, Tokyo to Houston, every game they offer is a unique adventure and experience.

We tried the Leather Apron game at The Escape Hunt Experience and were transported into an alternative reality: murky streets of nineteenth century London where Jack the Ripper was operating unchecked and we were London detectives investigating the most dangerous and wanted serial killer in history. Mr Ripper had just left his secret den and we had only one hour to gather evidence before he returned. It was one of the most exhilarating 60 minutes I have ever spent.

The Dubai chapter of Hungarian Games (your clients may well have tried this in Budapest) is also in Dubai, located in Al Quoz, and there are some other escape room experiences in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers area, such as No Way Out and Phobia Dubai.

According to the latest data from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) Dubai alone saw a total of 15.79 million visitors in 2017, and the majority of the tourists were from India, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. Dubai may not have enough escape rooms to keep everyone entertained. So, why not send some of your patrons to a silent disco instead?

A silent disco is when people dance to music that is transmitted through wireless headphones, rather than music which is played over a speaker system. Crazy as it sounds (and looks!) it is a lot of fun and highly recommended to anyone who is into clubbing. Dubai is known for its nightlife and knowing what’s unique, also makes you unique.

Dubai favourite night haunt Mr Miyagi is relaunching its Hello Kitty night, so punters can pick their playlist and dance to their own tunes with the introduction of a silent disco at Hello Kitty Night every Tuesday starting July 3. Starting 5pm, ladies can enjoy three dishes and three drinks for Dh99 ($27.2) with karaoke, men can make a trip to the bucket bar and take advantage of two for one buckets during happy hour from 4pm to 8pm. The silent disco begins at 11pm and all the ladies enjoy three additional free drinks.
